Papua New Guinea coffee, Grass Roots mill .
Exotic Papua New Guinea is a remote country, lying north of Australia, part of the island of New Guinea. The island of New Guinea, is the world's second largest island ( after Greenland ), located in the so-called "Pacific Ring of Fire". The name comes from frequent earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. The island is a place where tectonic plates overlap, hence the rich seismic activity. Papua New Guinea is not only home to an incredible number of active volcanoes, but also an unparalleled cultural and ecological diversity; 9 million people living in Papua New Guinea speak 852 languages, less than 20% of the population live in large cities, and nearly 40% of the population is fully self-sufficient where they live.
The coffee we are pleased to offer you at Sochaccy.Co coffee shop comes from the Kuli Gap region, Western Highlands province, which is located in the central part of the country, bordering Jiwaka and Enga. The region is considered to be the best place to grow coffee in PNG and to prove it is the concentration of the largest number of coffee plantations. The best climate for growing coffee is created by a large concentration of volcanoes with mineral-rich slopes and numerous rivers that provide irrigation for the area.
We roast our coffee when you order it from our family-run Sochaccy roasting facility, so you can decide how we roast, grind and package it for you. The coffee comes from plantations located at an altitude of 1,600 to 1,900 meters above sea level. The owner of the plantation is Paul Pora, a person with an extraordinary career and knowledge of coffee cultivation. It is worth mentioning that he gave up a prominent position in the World Bank for coffee. He began his coffee adventure with a thorough education that culminated in a degree from Oxford and several diplomas in genetics and plant breeding from universities in Papua New Guinea and England. During his career he also worked at the Coffee Research Institute in PNG. Paul Pora's plantations are planted with Arabica, Typica, Arusha and Bourbon coffees. After harvesting, the coffee was processed at the Grass Roots processing station using the fully washed, sun dried method.
The coffee's flavor greets us with intense floral notes, as well as notes of butter, chocolate-all surrounded by a creamy, dense body.
