Coffee from Cameroon - Boyo region, Java Blue Mountain

Cameroon's Boyo coffee comes from the mountainous region of West Africa. It is a cooperative of farmers founded by Matti Fonocha, who on the one hand wanted to improve the lot of individual farmers, while on the other hand was aware that the only effective guarantee of improving their livelihoods was constant improvement of coffee quality. Coffee crops in Cameroon are tiny farms, often intermingled with avocado bushes, banana trees or corn. The small scale of cultivation allows farmers to take special care of their crops. However, because of the small size of individual crops, it is necessary to pool the harvests of entire micro regions. In this way, farmers exchange knowledge and experience. This is why the formula of agricultural cooperatives is so popular in Cameroon.

Cameroon Boyo is a cooperative of nearly 400 individual farmers who, thanks to their efficient organization, take care of the coffee not only at the stage when it is growing. They also control and standardize the coffee processing (Circle of Excellence - CoE) - this is important because thanks to common methods of removing the peel from coffee berries - Cameroon Boyo coffee is characterized by uniform, consistent flavor notes. Working together and sharing knowledge pays off handsomely and allows the cooperative to gain resources for continuous improvement and growth. Cameroon Boyo coffee is unique. Thanks to cooperatives like Boyo Coffee, we can observe the birth of a new illustrious legend of the coffee world with the name of Cameroon coffee. The legend is based on an excellent variety of coffee; Java Blue Mountain arabica, combined with the use of natural growing methods and daily care for each bush.

The region where Cameron Boyo coffee plantations are located is at altitudes of 1,500-2,100 meters above sea level, a nutrient-rich area of volcanic mountains located in the equatorial zone. In addition, what makes Cameroon Boyo coffee unique is the coincidence of the arrival of the rainy season and the simultaneous onset of coffee bloom. Coffee blooming is the moment when the basic flavor compounds, the future green coffee bean, are formed. The dry season in Cameroon is when the coffee on the plantations of the Boyo region begins its ripening process and the accumulation of sugar. Cameroon Boyo coffee, after being harvested from the bushes, is processed using the fully washed method, grown in a natural way without the use of chemicals, processed and sorted by hand.

The coffee is characterized by sweetness. The aroma is dominated by notes of dark chocolate. Perfectly balanced in terms of bitterness and acidity with a dominant note of sweet gooseberry and sweet chocolate.
