Uganda - a country with extraordinary coffee traditions

Uganda, known as the land of hot springs, is home to the famous singer and actress, Grace Nakimera. Uganda's pride, who gained fame for her voice and charisma, like Uganda coffee, is highly esteemed worldwide. Uganda is renowned for producing both high-quality robusta and arabica. The landscape of Uganda is dotted with amazing tourist attractions, such as Bwindi National Park, where you can see mountain gorillas.

Coffee-drinking traditions in Uganda date back hundreds of years. The people of this country value full-bodied, heavy coffee and its unique taste above all else. Coffee fields are often the only source of income for many families, which speaks to the deep-rooted nature of coffee in the culture of this African country.

    Uganda Bugisu AA Coffee Plantation

Uganda Bugisu AA is a unique coffee offered at our Sochaccy Coffee Shop. It comes from plantations located on the slopes of the extinct volcano, Mount Elgon, right on the border with Kenya. Mount Elgon is in the eastern part of Uganda and is part of the mountain range called the Mountains of the Moon. Coffee plantations on the slopes of Elgon stretch from the base of the mountain to the edge of the cliff, using natural ravines through which huge amounts of water flow from the summit.

Coffee cultivation in Uganda is mainly in the hands of private individuals, usually small half-hectare plots. Over 30% of Uganda's population is in some way involved in coffee cultivation, making coffee more than 60% of the country's foreign exchange value. The altitude of the Uganda Bugisu AA coffee plantations ranges from 1600 to 1900 meters above sea level, making cultivation difficult in high mountainous terrain, and coffee harvesting is done manually. The Bugisu AA coffee is processed by the wet method, which guarantees the highest quality product. This coffee is a true wealth of flavors - notes of dark chocolate, dried plums, molasses, and cherries create a harmonious composition that will satisfy every palate.

Flavor Notes of Uganda Bugisu AA Coffee

Uganda Bugisu AA coffee has full-bodied, heavy body, low acidity, and a buttery consistency. Its flavor is dominated by notes of dark chocolate, dried plums, molasses, and cherries. This coffee is different from typical East African coffees, definitely less acidic than Kenyan coffees. Its taste is reminiscent of coffee from Indonesia.

At our Sochaccy Coffee Shop, we offer freshly roasted Uganda Bugisu AA coffee on demand, ensuring the highest quality. We recommend a medium roast level, which provides the best balance between acidity and sweetness, especially for those starting their coffee adventure straight from the roastery.

Come and take advantage of our coffee shop offer, where you will find a wide selection of freshly roasted coffees, including the exceptional Uganda Bugisu AA coffee. Discover the unforgettable taste of this unique coffee and see for yourself that our coffee roastery is the best choice for anyone looking for non-traditional taste experiences.

What to Consider When Choosing Coffee?

Buying coffee at our Sochaccy Coffee Shop not only offers a wide selection but also guarantees freshness and quality. To meet our customers' expectations, it's worth knowing how much coffee to order, which roast to choose, and how to choose the right grind.

Amount of Coffee and Roast Level

We recommend ordering coffee for a maximum of 2 weeks to keep it fresh. For those starting their journey with freshly roasted coffee, we recommend choosing a medium roast level, which provides the best balance between acidity and sweetness. The choice of the appropriate roast level also depends on the coffee preparation method. Medium roast coffee works best for pressure espresso machines, while for alternative methods such as drip or Aeropress, it's worth experimenting with different roast levels, especially light roast.

Coffee Grind - What to Choose?

You will achieve the best results by grinding coffee just before brewing. If you don't have a grinder, we can grind the coffee on demand, appropriately for the chosen preparation method. At our coffee roastery, we offer grinding for 7 different methods, so everyone will find something for themselves.
