Cameroon Boyo coffee comes from the mountainous region of West Africa, it is a cooperative of farmers founded by Matti Fonocha, who on the one hand wanted to improve the lot of individual farmers, and on the other hand was aware that the only effective guarantee for improving their livelihoods was the continuous improvement of coffee quality. Coffee crops in Cameroon are tiny farms, often intermingled with avocado bushes, banana trees or corn. The small scale of cultivation allows farmers to approach, with special care, their crops. However, due to the small size, of individual crops, it is necessary to combine crops from entire micro regions. In this way, farmers exchange knowledge and experience. This is why the formula of agricultural cooperatives is so popular in Cameroon.
Cameroon Boyo is a cooperative of nearly 400 individual farmers who, through efficient organization, take care of the coffee not only at the stage when it grows. They also control and standardize, the processing of the coffee ( Circle of Excellence - CoE)-this is important because thanks to the joint use of methods of removing the skin from the coffee berry- Cameroon Boyo coffee, is characterized by uniform, consistent flavor notes. Working together and sharing knowledge pays off brilliantly and allows the cooperative to gain resources for continuous improvement and development. Cameroon Boyo coffee is unique. Thanks to cooperatives like Boyo Coffee, we can observe the birth of a new outstanding legend of the coffee world, whose name is Cameroon coffee. The legend is based on an excellent variety of coffee; Java Blue Mountain arabica, combined with the use of natural cultivation methods and daily care of each bush.
The region in which Cameroon Boyo coffee plantations are located is at altitudes of 1,500-2,100 meters above sea level, a nutrient-rich area of volcanic mountains located in the equatorial zone. In addition, what makes Cameroon Boyo coffee unique is the coincidence in timing of the onset of the rainy season and the simultaneous onset of coffee bloom. Coffee bloom is when the basic flavor compounds, the future green coffee bean, are formed. The dry season in Cameroon occurs when the coffee in the plantations of the Boyo region, begins its process of maturation and sugar accumulation. After being harvested from the bushes, Cameroon Boyo coffee is processed using the fully washed method, grown naturally, without the use of chemicals, processed and sorted by hand.
The coffee is characterized by sweetness. The aroma is dominated by notes of dark chocolate. Perfectly balanced in terms of bitterness and acidity with dominant notes of sweet gooseberry and sweet chocolate.
Light-roasted coffee, medium-roasted coffee or dark-roasted coffee - how does the level of coffee roast affect its taste?
The level of roasting of coffee is crucial to its final flavor and aroma. Light roasted beans retain most of the natural acids and fruity notes, resulting in softer and more pronounced flavor profiles. Medium-roasted beans highlight sweeter notes, such as chocolate and caramel, offering a more balanced and full-bodied profile. Darker roasted beans, on the other hand, deliver intense, deep flavors with dominant dark chocolate accents that are favored by lovers of strong and distinctive experiences. Our Sochaccy Artisan Coffee Roastery distinguishes itself in the market by being the only one to offer a choice of roast levels, allowing each customer to customize the taste of their coffee to suit their own preferences.
