Panama Geisha Boquete coffee, from the Augustus Estate plantation

    Why Panama Geisha?

We searched a long time for the right quality Geisha coffee beans for Sochaccy Coffee Roastery. We are delighted to be able to present to you the holy grail of coffee. According to many coffee connoisseurs it is the best premium speciality coffee in the world today. We are the only company that roasts Panama Geisha coffee to order, so you can taste freshly roasted Panama Geisha coffee. Furthermore, we would like to draw your attention to the fact that this coffee comes from this year's harvest, which is a guarantee of an unusually intense aroma and taste of coffee.

What is Geisha coffee and where does the name come from?

Geisha is a legendary bean in the world of speciality coffee. The name comes from a misinterpretation of the coffee's birthplace in Ethiopia - Gesha. You may hear many variations of the name, but in no way does our coffee have anything to do with Japanese hostas.

Why is Geisha from Panama the best?

The fame of Panama's Geisha coffee was born in 2004, when it was first named the best coffee of Panama (Best of Panama 2004). Panamanian Geisha is the only coffee in history to hold the top spot for five consecutive years. The judges were impressed by the aroma of bergamot combined with citrus floral sweetness. Geisha is a coffee that is unparalleled in aroma and flavor complexity. In connoisseur circles it is sometimes referred to as "God in a cup".

Growers in various regions of the world have taken an interest in growing Geisha coffee because of its greater resistance to pests. However, the coffee variety did not show the world what it was capable of until it found its home; the high climatic mountains of the province of Chiriquí, district of Boquete. This is where the legend of the true Geisha coffee was born and continues. The ideal climatic conditions and altitude of the plantation give our coffee a unique flavor profile that is difficult to replicate anywhere else. Attempts to replicate the success of Panamanian Geisha are being made in many countries around the world; you can find Geisha varieties in Ethiopia, Tanzania, Malawi, Costa Rica, Honduras, or Peru. Without the climatic conditions and altitude of Boquete, the unique qualities of Geisha's aroma and flavor are absent. What sets Panama Geisha apart; the note of wildness in the aroma the depth of flavour worthy of a true star among the world's coffees.

Panama Geisha best shows its qualities when served in a variety of alternative methods and definitely loses its luster when covered in a layer of milk. The richness and delicacy of this coffee is somewhat less pronounced in a traditional espresso. This is one of the coffees that shows incredible flavour beyond the world of espresso.

    Geisha Coffee Plantation Description.

Panama Geisha coffee comes from the Augustus plantation, a family-owned estate located at an altitude of 1,500 to 1,700 meters above sea level near the town of Boquete, between the Baru Volcano National Park and La Amistad - near the border with Costa Rica. As it grows, the coffee takes full advantage of the fertile conditions of the Baru Volcano area. Regular rainfall and sufficient altitude are key factors in the unparalleled taste of coffee from Boquete. The rich nutrients in the volcanic soil and the limited amount of sunshine allow the beans to develop a rich, deep flavor.

What does Panama Geisha taste like?

The coffee greets us with a delicate floral and citrus aroma. In the cup, the sweetness of forest berries comes to the fore, followed by notes of mango and cherry fruit. The coffee has an exceptionally balanced body.
