It is widely believed that coffee was brought to Asia by Baba Budan, well he didn't exactly do it officially because he most simply stole coffee seedlings during his pilgrimage to Mecca around 1600, and then smuggled coffee to India. But the real development of coffee cultivation, Asia owes to the Dutch and dates back to 1699 troku, when Dutch settlers successfully planted the first coffee seedlings outside the Arabian Peninsula. The place where this was done was the island of Java, and so to this day much of the world calls coffee - Java. In 1706, the first harvest of coffee from what is now Indonesia was shipped to Amsterdam, the harvest was sent along with a batch of seedlings, and it was the seedlings from Java that gave rise to the great coffee crop in America, in Martinique.
Asian coffees, are characterized by a full round flavor, thick exotic dark chocolate, strong nuts and hints of a subtle earthy aftertaste.
